Original 1815 Walpole Bible. This Bible was the first Bible printed in New Hampshire in the town of Walpole by Anson Whipple, the son-in-law of Isaiah Thomas, the colonial philanthropist, patriot and pioneering printer. Whipple is said to have used Thomas' press in the printing of this Bible. Typesetting and printing took about 5 years to accomplish and the press run was only 8,000 copies. Few of this original first run survive.
